The objective of WP2 is to investigate geometric pumping of Cooper pairs in Josephson devices. The main directions of the research are: a) relation between geometric phases (Berry phases) and pumped charge, b) influence of dissipation on the precision of pumping, c) adiabatic vs. non-adiabatic pumping, d) experimental demonstration of the quantization of the current produced by a Cooper pair pump, e) development of a current standard of a sufficiently high precision to close the metrological triangle and be applicable to the redefinition of the international unit system.
