Duties and Responsibilities

Applications are invited for this theoretical Postdoctoral position based at UCL, working with Professor Sougato Bose, and collaborating with Professor Sir Michael Pepper’s experimental group at UCL and other experimental groups within the UK, to investigate the behaviour of interacting electrons in semiconductor nanostructures and its applications. The emphasis is on the role of the electron-electron interactions in determining the transport properties of the electron system giving rise to emergent phenomena. The applications to quantum information technology will be sought and the successful applicant will be expected to develop an independent programme based around a successful EPSRC application.

The appointment is funded until 30 September 2017 in the first instance.

Key Requirements

The successful applicant will have a PhD in relevant area of the physical sciences and experience in relevant theoretical and numerical techniques (DMRG, Exact Diagonalization etc.) Experience with the theory of semiconductor structures and devices, knowledge of quantum information, and the analysis of open quantum systems are essential.
