Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Designing Out-of-equilibrium Many-body Quantum Systems.

This project is part of a targeted research effort supported by an EPSRC programme grant, with the aim of developing approaches to deterministically designing quantum systems out of thermal equilibrium. The postholder will primarily work on understanding the emergence of novel properties in periodically driven quantum systems and the role of coherence and dissipation in these setups. The work will be theoretical and is expected to contain analytical and numerical components. It will be carried out in close collaboration with theoretical and experimental partners in the project consortium.

Applicants should possess, (or be very close to obtaining) a doctorate in physics or a related field, and have a strong background and expertise in ultracold atom physics, analogue quantum simulation and non-equilibrium quantum dynamics. Previous experience in numerical work will be an advantage.

The postholder will have the opportunity to teach.

This post is fixed-term for 2 years with a possible extension.
