Postdoctoral positions in Crossover between Quantum Information and Density Functional Theory in I. D’Amico' group at USP-S. Carlos (Brazil)

Postdoctoral positions: Crossover between Quantum Information and Density Functional Theory.

One postdoctoral opening is available in the group of Irene D’Amico (University of York and Universidade de Sao Paulo (USP) - S. Carlos) in the general area of Crossover between Quantum Information and Density Functional Theory.

The position will be in the context of the Special Visiting Researcher – PVE project

‘Metric Spaces and Entanglement: new tools for the conceptual development of Density Functional Theory’ which involves close collaboration with the groups of Luiz Nunes de Oliveira (USP - S. Carlos),  Vivian França (UNESP, Araraquara), and Klaus Capelle (UFABC, S. André).

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual, with confirmed expertise in (or familiarity with) one or several of the following fields:

density functional theory,
many-body theory,
many-body correlations such as entanglement
quantum information/computation with solid state systems
metric space theory

Applicants must have confirmed computational expertise in writing and/or developing research codes.

The goal of this project is the development of fundamentals of density functional theory through cross-fertilization with concepts from quantum information and the development of the metric approach to quantum mechanics.

The position will be located at the Institute of Physics of USP, São Carlos campus (S. Paulo, Brazil), with occasional short visits to The University of York (UK).

The starting date is flexible. For full consideration, applications should be sent as soon as possible, but will be accepted until the position is filled.
