The JARA Institute for Quantum Information at the Forschungszentrum Jülich and the Departments of Physics and Applied Physics at Yale University invite applications for a postdoctoral position in theoretical condensed matter physics to start in the summer or fall of 2015. The position has been established through the Max Planck Research Award conferred on Prof. R. Schoelkopf. Therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to carry out theoretical research relevant to experiments with superconducting qubits currently under investigation in Prof. Schoelkopf’s group. In Jülich the researcher will have the opportunity to work together with Prof. D. DiVincenzo and Dr. G. Catelani; he or she will be required to visit Yale University for extended periods to pursue close collaborations with Profs. L. Glazman and R. Schoelkopf.

The appointment is for 2 years, renewable for a third year contingent on performance and funding. Travel funds to attend international conferences will be provided in addition to the funds that will cover the scientific visits to Yale University. Applicants should submit their curriculum vitae with list of publications and a short statement of research accomplishments and interests, in a single PDF file, to Dr. G. Catelani at g [dot] catelani [at] fz-juelich [dot] de. They should also arrange for at least 2 letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address. To ensure full consideration, the application material should be received on or before March 1, 2015. Screening of applications will start immediately and continue until the position is filled.
