Quantum Information Group, Masaryk University, Czech Republic (QICZ) invites applications for 2 post-doctoral positions in theoretical quantum information theory. The positions are awarded for one year with an extension to the second year after a review. Gross salary is 50,000 CZK (Net salary ~37,000 CZK) per month which, with an optional 10% bonus, sums to more than 24,000 EUR per year. Additional funds of 4,000 EUR per year will be available for travel and material expenses. Expected start date of the contract is January 1, 2017, but a later start date may be negotiated.

Successful candidates will join the research group led by Assoc. Prof. RNDr. Jan Bouda, Ph.D.

Applicants should have earned a PhD in physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field, have demonstrated/interested in the following aspects of quantum information theory:

  • Quantum Shannon theory - channel capacity
  • Rényi entropies and non-i.i.d. in general.
  • Randomness - extraction, applications, unitary k-designs.
  • Cryptography - mainly security of cryptographic protocols and primitives in connection with randomness.
