The University of Bonn, Institute of Applied Physics, has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher in the quantum optics group. We are looking for a candidate with a highly successful Ph. D., preferentially in experimental AMO physics, to join our team. The initial appointment is for up to two years (TVL 13 salary scale, full social benefits). The candidate is expected to participate in the education and supervision of Ph. D. and master students.

Our group conducts research in the laser cooling of dense gases, equilibrium thermodynamics of light, and quantum physics of ultracold atomic gases. The focus of the planned research is on the topic of laser redistribution cooling of dense atomic gases. For more details on this research, see: Nature 461, 70 (2009) or the group website. Our future plans are the supercooling of gases and to extend the scheme to a redistribution laser cooling of molecular gas samples.

Preferential consideration will be given to women if they are equally qualified and possess the same level of competence and professional achievements. Disabled applicants with the same qualifications as other candidates are preferably employed.

Applications should preferentially be sent in electronic form until June 16, 2013.
