ICFO is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will be joining the QOT Quantum Optics Theory group led by Prof. Dr. Maciej Lewenstein. The group has experience in theoretical physics (quantum physics, quantum information science, statistical physics, ultrafast science, laser physics, mathematical physics, machine learning). The successful candidate will work within the project OPTOlogic. The project deals with light-induced and controlled topology as a new paradigm. OPTOlogic envisions a new class of dissipation-less quantum devices generated through spatially and temporally structured ultrafast pulses of light to artificially induce and control topological protected states. This will enable a new technological platform that leverages the best aspects from topology, light-wave-electronics and quantum materials Skills in state-of –art numerical simulation of ultrafast physics, dynamics of quantum many body systems, etc. are more than welcome.

The successful candidate will carry out their tasks within the OPTOlogic project (starting date 01.09.20, duration 3 years, group funding of 400.000€.). This project financed by EU Horizon 2020 within the FET-OPEN RIA scheme.

ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS

Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in theoretical physics, mathematics, computer science (in order of preference).

The candidate should have a proven track record of research at the top international level. Positively valued will be experience in quantum atto-science, quantum many body physics and quantum information. Experience in both theoretical physics and analytic methods is highly desired.

ICFO is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates are selected exclusively on merit and potential on the basis of submitted application material. No restrictions related to disabilities, citizenship or gender apply to ICFO positions. ICFO abides by the principles of openness, efficiency, transparency, supportiveness, and international comparability as stated in the European Charter for Researchers and the European Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

The contract is offered for periods of one year, renewable.
