The Quantum Information Science Theory Group at the National Institute of Informatics (NII-QIST) in Tokyo (Japan) is seeking applicants for a fixed term research appointment to work on quantum networking and/or the implementation of quantum information devices. The appointment will be available as early as 1st of June 2014 to the end of 31st of March 2015 with a possible extension for a second year. Details of the NII-QIST group can be found at www.qis.ex.nii.ac.jp. The appointee will carry out theoretical research on quantum networking and its implementations. Applicants must hold a PhD in quantum information science, theoretical physics or some suitable related discipline. S/he should have research experience in the field, and a track record demonstrating research independence. Experience and expertise in the one or more of the following fields are desirable:
- quantum optics
- solid state physics theory
- quantum computer architecture
- quantum error correction
