Open Postdoc position in Nonclassical Levitating Optomechanics

Department of Optics, Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic

Start: at any time before July 1, 2019

End: December 31, 2020

We are seeking a Postdoc in quantum optomechanics and quantum engineering, specifically, for a running EU QUANTERA project on preparation and characterisation of nonclassical states of levitating nanoparticles.

The theoretical work of Postdoc will be focused on the development of experimentally feasible preparation and characterisation of nonclassical quantum mechanical states of levitating nanoparticles. Theoretical proposals will be developed towards possible experimental tests in collaboration with a partner lab. Our research runs in a friendly, collaborative and very international academic environment, including theoretical and experimental physicists in quantum optics, quantum communication, quantum optomechanics, quantum thermodynamics, physics of trapped ions and particles, theoretical and experimental quantum information and classical optics. Postdoc position will be in collaboration with a junior PhD student.

Position summary: Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two and half years. An extension is conditionally possible. Salary is monthly 40.000-50.000 CZK before tax and social/health insurance.

Required:

• PhD Degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent

• fluency in English, oral and written

Important experience:

• quantum physics

Helpful experiences (at least two):

• quantum optics, quantum optomechanics, superconducting electric circuits, quantum computing, quantum metrology, quantum communication, quantum simulations
