The Faculty of Science and Technology at Siegen University, Germany, seeks to appoint at the earliest possible date a

University Professor
for Experimental Physics

We invite applications from candidates who have a demonstrated record of excellence in internationally acknowledged research in the general field of nano-photonics (for example, spectroscopy of condensed matter and nano-structures). The successful candidate's research shall complement already established research activities at the Faculty of Science and Technology and, in particular, at the Department of Physics.

Teaching duties will primarily be in experimental physics at the Department of Physics and include the support of degree programmes in other departments. The successful candidate is expected to take part in a planned inter-disciplinary degree programme ,,Material Sciences and Material Engineering".

Experience in the successful aquisition of third-party research funding and the willingness to take part in academic administration are expected.

Apart from the general requirements derived from German employment law the appointment requirements are: completion of an academic degree, educational aptitude, a proven track record of academic research usually documented through an excellent doctorate, and an additional scientific track record which will exclusively and thoroughly be assessed in the course of the appointment procedure, and experience in academic teaching. The additional scientific track record can be based on a junior professorship, a habilitation or a post as a scientific assistant at a university or a non-university research institution, or through other scientific research.
