The Quantum Nanophysics group under the direction of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Markus Arndt at the Faculty of Physics, University of Vienna, is a young and ambitious team that conducts internationally successful research in the field of experimental quantum nanophysics. For our further reinforcement, we are looking for a University Assistant on the praedoc/PhD student level for the period of 4 years.

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Occupation group in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc)
On top of this relevant chargeable work experience determines the assessment to a particular salary grade.

Areas of work:
We expect the candidate to pursue her/his PhD thesis in experimental quantum nanophysics within the KDTLI interferometer team. The thesis is expected to focus on quantum interference and interference-enhanced metrology with biomolecules, as supported by the ERC Advanced Grant PROBIOTIQUS. Your position also includes teaching as assigned by the head of studies in discussion with you and the team leader. The selection will lean on criteria similar to those defined by the Vienna doctoral program on complex quantum systems (www.CoQuS.at) to ensure that your integration into this team has a chance of being successful.

Profile:
A master or diploma degree in physics. Required skills: Hands-on training in experimental physics.

It is highly desirable that the candidate has a good background in atomic, molecular or cluster beam physics, laser handling and other general skills for a quantum nanophysics lab. Experience in matter wave physics with either neutrons, electrons, atoms, molecules or clusters is advantageous.
Knowledge of scientific data acquisition and data processing software.
