Aalto University School of Science invites applications for Tenure Track position in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics to be filled primarily at Assistant Professor level. Other levels may also be considered for candidates with exceptional qualifications.

The position will be located at the O.V. Lounasmaa Laboratory (http://ovll.aalto.fi, formerly Low Temperature Laboratory), which is a multidisciplinary department for low temperature physics and neuroscience at the Aalto University School of Science. Its research activities in fundamental physics and applications include coherent quantum systems and devices, topological materials, and relativistic quantum fields. The position will have double affiliation as the teaching activities will be coordinated by the Department of Applied Physics (http://physics.aalto.fi). Much of the research at the department is focused on condensed-matter and materials physics, on quantum physics and nano-optics, and on advanced energy sciences.

We invite applications for the Tenure Track professor position in “theoretical condensed matter physics of quantum phenomena and devices”. We seek for an individual with demonstrated excellence in research, in contemporary quantum physics and especially in macroscopic quantum phenomena, with applications in quantum devices. We appreciate an interest in phenomenological approach to physics and anticipate the candidates to have a proven record on fruitful collaboration with experimental physics groups. The successful candidate is expected to conduct an outstanding independent research program that integrates well into the existing research fields of the O.V. Lounasmaa Laboratory and the Department of Applied Physics. Furthermore, the candidate is presumed to contribute to the development of the whole curriculum in quantum physics at the Aalto University School of Science.
