Research Group Leader
Requirements

We are searching for a researcher with high international standing in theoretical quantum physics, with a particular emphasis on quantum foundations and theoretical quantum information. Candidates with an interest and/or background in the interrelation between quantum theory and gravity are encouraged to apply. All candidates should have several years of PhD and post-doctoral research experience at a university or comparable research institution. They should have attained high international visibility and independently work in new fields of science. Significant international experience is required. Candidates should also have the skills and motivation to lead a research team. They should be able to design, procure and direct major research projects and to teach students at all curricular levels including thesis supervision. We expect not only academic brilliance, but also strong motivation and commitment.

The position

Applications by candidates with different levels of experience are welcome. Senior candidates with extensive international research experience and an outstanding track record are eligible for the position of a (tenure-track) Senior Group Leader. Junior candidates will apply for the position of a Junior Group Leader, which is limited to a period of 4 years with the possibility for a permanent employment. The selection committee will assign the respective category according to their assessment of each candidate’s experience and background.

IQOQI-Vienna is part of the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology (http://vcq.quantum.at/), an institution which unites quantum physicists of Vienna’s research institutions in one collaborative center and thus provides a unique opportunity for direct exchange and collaboration between its research groups.
