DESCRIPTION

The Optoelectronics Group, led by Prof. Dr. Valerio Pruneri, at ICFO is offering a research engineer position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic individual who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will work on our projects related to Quantum and Quantum Key Distribution (Quantum Flagship https://civiquantum.eu/ and https://qrange.eu/, European H2020 https://openqkd.eu/). These projects seek to develop quantum key distribution systems that can be readily integrated into modern optical telecommunication networks. The successful candidate will be working on developing a QKD prototype based on coherent detection. This includes working with fiber-based components, data analysis, electronics, prototype developing, and field tests.

ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS

The candidate must hold an internationally-recognized degree on telecommunication engineering.

  • Experience in experimental coherent optical telecommunication is required.
  • Additional experience in simulations and signal processing for coherent optical communication, fiber optics components, electro-optics modulation, and prototype developing is evaluated positively.
  • The selected candidate will strongly benefit from a multidisciplinary environment with other research engineers, postdocs and PhD students working in quantum technologies. In addition, the project involves a close collaboration with others academic institutions and partner enterprises.

ICFO is an equal employment opportunity employer. Candidates are selected exclusively on merit and potential on the basis of submitted application material. No restrictions of persons with disabilities, citizenship or gender apply to ICFO positions.
