Research Assistant (Early-Stage Researcher).

HOLOEYE is a young company with the high potential for individual careers. Team work, along with strong sense of individual creativity, enjoyment, enthusiasm, flexibility and vision are all crucial to our daily operations.

We are always looking for employees with a background in diffractive optics or display technologies.

HOLOEYE Photonics AG is looking for a suitable candidate for a position of Research Assistant (Early-Stage Researcher). The opportunity to register for PhD study will be offered in collaboration with the faculty of physics at University of Muenster.

The position is offered within the framework of the European Training Network ColOpt (Collective effects and optomechanics in ultra-cold matter, grant agreement No 721465) involving eleven different partners from six European countries (Austria, France, Germany, Italy, UK, Switzerland).

The researcher is expected to attend network events and to interact with the partners at meetings, via electronic media and secondments. Anticipated secondments are to our project partners University of Münster, University of Glasgow and Toptica Photonics AG.

HOLOEYE is a leading provider for design, development and commercialization of industrial microdisplay applications, adaptive micro-optics and diffractive components. Our LC-based spatial light modulators (SLMs) with highest resolution and smallest pixel pitch are utilized in numerous applications ranging from holographic display and security systems to optical metrology, optical switching, biophotonics, laser pulse shaping, and laser material processing.

The researcher will be dealing with further SLM development towards photonics applications, specifically for applications with ultrashort pulsed and/or high energy laser sources. The researcher will contribute to the improvement of damage threshold and light efficiency of the SLM, working with theoretical and experimental methods, including the electro-optical simulation and electromagnetic/diffraction theory.

Requirements:

To be eligible, the candidate must be an Early Stage Researcher (ESR). The ESR must not have a PhD and must have fewer than four years of research experience.

At the time of the selection, applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work or studies) in the country where they will be recruited for more than 12 months in the three years immediately prior to the starting date. In case you are unsure if you can qualify for this condition, please contact us.

The candidate should hold Master (or equivalent) degree in Optics, Photonics, Physics or EE with major in optical sciences.

The experience of work in industrial environment is a plus.

We expect the knowledge in physical optics, Fourier optics and diffraction theory (e.g. RCWA, FDTD or other methods).

Experience in polarization optics, liquid crystals and microdisplay technologies will be considered as an advantage.

We welcome software skills, particularly Matlab/Octave, C++, Labview.

Good command of English is a must, German is very welcome.

The position is available for 3 years. The remuneration comprises monthly living allowance, mobility allowance and family allowance (if applicable) according to MSCA Guidelines.
