We are seeking talented and highly motivated candidates to join our research team as a PhD student or Post-Doc at the University of Basel in Switzerland. Several projects are available, ranging from edge state spectroscopy to transport on ultra-stable lateral GaAs quantum dots, Ge/Si quantum wire dots with strong spin orbit interaction and investigation of nanoelectronic devices at microkelvin temperatures. Detailed information for all projects, including relevant publications, can be found at https://zumbuhllab.unibas.ch.

Suitable PhD candidates need to hold a masters (or equivalent) degree, preferably in physics or a closely related discipline. Some prior experience in (experimental) condensed matter physics would be helpful. German language proficiency is not necessary.

We prefer candidates with the following qualifications:
Strong background in solid state physics.
Laboratory and clean room experience (nanofabrication)
Experience with quantum transport measurements at cryogenic temperatures
    Programming skills
    English communication and presentation skills

The successful candidate will join the Zumbuhl group at University of Basel in Switzerland, https://zumbuhllab.unibas.ch. We are part of the physics department at University Basel, which hosts theoretical and experimental research groups and is widely recognized for the excellence of research, education and innovation. We offer a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment.

Please submit your application online at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/11389. Submitted applications must contain all relevant materials to be given consideration. The file must include:
A curriculum vitae, including publication list (if available) and names/contacts of referees
A thesis (Masters, or PhD thesis)
Applicants for the PhD position: detailed (scanned, pdf) Master and Bachelor degree grades
A description of interests and skills might be helpful
A contact list of references (e.g. former supervisor)
Candidates may apply prior to obtaining their master's degree but cannot begin before having received it.
