The Group of Applied Physics (U. Geneva) is looking for a new PhD student to work on the theory of large-scale quantum mechanics, mainly for photonic and spin systems. Some of our current activities include theory of Schrödinger-cat states; quantum-to-classical transition of the measurement process; detection of entanglement in large spin systems; and theory of solid state quantum memories. Many of these activities are strongly connected to experiments conducted by the group. Students with very good hard and soft skills are welcome to directly apply to florian [dot] froewis [at] unige [dot] ch.
