The Physics Department at Saarland University invites applications for a

Junior Professor position (salary level W1, comparable to Assistant Professor) in experimental solid-state physics

with a focus on condensed matter systems with applications in quantum information processing. Potential research areas are quantum control, spintronics, coupling between electronic and nanomechanical systems, superconducting and molecular electronics, or nanomagnetism. We expect the successful candidate to be open for collaborations with the experimental and theoretical research groups in the physics department and the research institutes connected to the University.

We expect candidates with a highly visible international profile and a competitive research plan.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching courses in experimental physics as well as to the further development of our undergraduate and graduate programs in physics. We expect a strong publication record and successful acquisition of external funding.

The position is initially scheduled for four years with a possible renewal of two years, conditional of a positive external review of the research record. The position is intended to be tenure track.

Special support will be given to research activities in the international region SaarLorLux (Saarland, Lorraine, Luxembour), see www.uni-gr.eu.

Applicants must possess a university degree in a field related to physics and a doctoral degree. Saarland University is committed to Equal Opportunity and Diversity. Women and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Applicants should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research and teaching statement, list of publications, and copies of certificates in written or electronic form including their working and private address and the reference number W466 to Prof. Dr. H. Seidel, dekanat [dot] fak7 [at] mx [dot] uni-saarland [dot] de; Universität des Saarlandes, Dekanat Fakultät 7, Campus, 66123 Saarbrücken.
