508. WE Heraeus Seminar "Quantum meets gravity and metrology“

Date:
2012-06-04 - 2012-06-08
Place:
Bad Honnef near Bonn and Cologne / Germany

We would like to announce the 508. WE Heraeus Seminar „Quantum meets gravity and metrology“ to be held at the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef/Germany on June 3 – 8, 2012.

Scientific organizers are Wolfgang Ertmer, Ernst Rasel, Wolfgang Schleich and Piet Schmidt. More information is available at http://www.iqo.uni-hannover.de/heraeus-seminar.html This seminar will explore the frontiers between quantum mechanics, gravity and the state-of-art of quantum metrology.

In the triangle of this three fields very fundamental challenges excite scientists and drive them to advance our present knowledge in unknown territories

Topics:

  • Quantum and gravity
  • Einstein equivalence principle
  • Decoherence and entanglement
  • Quantum metrology with ions and neutral atoms
  • Gravity experiments with quantum systems

In each of these themes we have gathered scientists, whose scientific work provided us with novel and ground breaking insights during their career or in their latest work

Invited speakers: http://www.iqo.uni-hannover.de/1130.html

Application is now open. We encourage you and your PhD students to visit our website for application: http://www.iqo.uni-hannover.de/heraeus-seminar.html There will be no conference fees. Board and lodging will be generously funded by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation.

Questions with regard to the conference can be directed to the scientific organisers.

Best regards
Wolfgang Ertmer, Ernst Rasel, Wolfgang Schleich and Piet Schmidt
