2nd AQuA Student Congress on Quantum Information & Computation

Date:
2012-06-18 - 2012-06-22
Place:
Waterloo, Canada

This student conference will combine two events — the 9th Canadian Student Conference on Quantum Information, and the 2nd AQuA Student Congress on Quantum Information and Computation — into one spectacular. The event is a place for graduate students in the field of quantum information science from institutions around the world to come together and showcase their work to other graduate students in the field, at the same time making valuable contacts.

The annual Canadian Student Conference on Quantum Information, now in its 9th year, has been a huge success in the past, bringing together graduate students from across Canada and around the world. Every year, the event is hosted by a Canadian University, and we’re very happy to have the event at the Institute for Quantum Computing in 2012, just in time for our tenth anniversary.

The AQuA Student Congress had its hugely successful debut in Singapore in 2010. This event is meant to bring together students from member institutions of the Alliance for Quantum Academia (AQuA), which include the Centre for Quantum Technologies (National University Singapore), Institute for Quantum Computing (University of Waterloo), Imperial College London, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. We hope to make the second iteration equally successful, and we believe that combining this event with the larger Canadian Student Conference, open to students from any university, will be beneficial by bringing a wider group of students together to network and learn about the research of their peers.

We encourage all participants to prepare a poster or short presentation on their current area of research. It’s a great opportunity to gain valuable experience showcasing your work in a relaxed environment of your peers. Abstract submissions will be accepted through registration, when it opens.

Also, please note that the 12th Canadian Summer School on Quantum Information will be held in Waterloo the previous week, from June 11-16. Participants at the student conference are encouraged to consider also attending the summer school.
