Aim and Purpose

About a century ago, the theory of quantum mechanics was born. By virtue of its extraordinary explanatory power this theory has not only dramatically changed to the way we see the world, but also led to a first quantum revolution that has brought us groundbreaking new technologies such as the transistor, solid-state lighting, lasers, and GPS.

Quantum effects are in use since the 20th century and have led to market shaping innovations like semiconductor electronics and lasers. In the 21st century, quantum technology developments focus on the controlled quantum state of individual or coupled systems. While this quantum technology is still in the research stage, it offers an enormous potential and a number of initiatives worldwide have been formed to foster the technology and its commercial potential.

The 20th Symposium on Topological Quantum Information

Focus areas include, Topological insulators, superconductors and semimetals, Topological quantum liquids, Topological quantum computation, Classification of topological states and Topological states in cold atoms & materials.

We are pleased to announce the 17th Symposium on Topological Quantum
Information, which will be held in Garching, at the Max Planck Institute
of Quantum Optics, the 16th and 17th of April 2015.

The subject of this edition of the meeting is
"Topological Quantum Matter in Cold Atom Setups".

Following the tradition of the previous editions, this symposium will be
especially aimed to Phd students and postdocs working in this field. You

The 5th Syposium LFPPI SeQre 2014, Progress in Quantum Cryptography, will be held at Wroclaw University of Technology, Wrocław, Poland, on 27-28th of January 2014.
