INVITATION
Please mark your calendars for the 2nd lecture of the
Erwin Schrödinger Distinguished Lecture Series
by Prof. Ignacio Cirac
The lecture will take place in the evening of Tuesday, March 27th, 2012 at the “Festsaal” of the Austrian Academy of Science. The event, which was launched 2011 successfully, is organized by the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology (VCQ) and supported by the Erwin Schrödinger Institute (ESI).
A detailed invitation will follow soon.
The 23rd International Conference on Atomic Physics will be held in the Ecole polytechnique, a high level graduate school close to Paris. Following the tradition of ICAP, the conference will present an outstanding programme of invited speakers covering the most recent subjects in the field of atomic physics.
We would like to announce the 508. WE Heraeus Seminar „Quantum meets gravity and metrology“ to be held at the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef/Germany on June 3 – 8, 2012.
Scientific organizers are Wolfgang Ertmer, Ernst Rasel, Wolfgang Schleich and Piet Schmidt. More information is available at http://www.iqo.uni-hannover.de/heraeus-seminar.html This seminar will explore the frontiers between quantum mechanics, gravity and the state-of-art of quantum metrology.
The basic goal of the school is to give a background of the basic aspects of cold-atom, exciton and polariton physics so that students from related fields will be able to follow the most recent and exciting developments of these communities. Additional aims are to promote cooperation between the students and to produce synergy among these fields
The topics will include:
CEQIP'12 (Central European Quantum Information Processing workshop) is focused on current challenges and paradigms of quantum information processing. Although the workshop is open for any topic of quantum information theory, this year we plan to focus more on quantum randomness, novel schemes for quantum communication, quantum entanglement theory and novel algorithms for simulations of quantum systems.
Conference Chairs: Thomas Durt, Ecole Centrale de Marseille (France). Victor N. Zadkov, Lomonosov Moscow State Univ. (Russian Federation).
A winter school of the FP7 project CCQED (Circuit and Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics) is held in Les Houches from the 26th February to 2nd March 2012. The CCQED Winter School is aimed at PhD students and postdocs working in the field of circuit and cavity QED. Besides a general introductory course on the principles of the field, there will be lectures on the experimental realizations in different physical systems such as atoms in optical cavities, superconducting circuits, quantum dots in photonic crystal cavities and many more.
I’m happy to invite you to the 2nd Heilbronn Quantum algorithms day that will take place on the 1st of February 2012. Following on from the success of last year’s event, the aim of the colloquium is to showcase recent research in quantum algorithms. We will have five excellent speakers
The first IOTA-COST Workshop on Cold Molecular Ions, Sandbjerg Estate, Denmark, November 23-25, 2011, is now open for registration and submission of abstract via the website: http://iota-cost.au.dk/
The scope of the Workshop is dedicated to the task of advancing methods to prepare cold molecular ions and address new applications.
Topics of the workshop will include:
We are very pleased to announce that on February, 6 – 10, 2012 the AQUTE Winter School on Quantum Information Processing will be held at the Universitätszentrum in Obergurgl (Austria).
The Winter School will comprise five days of intensive lectures, discussions and poster sessions and is primarily intended for PhD students and Postdocs.
