Andreas Wallraff won the 2011 Max-Rössler Prize

Summary: 

Andreas Wallraff was awarded the 2011 Max-Rössler Prize in recognition of his outstanding research at the interface of information technology and quantum physics. The award comes with 200,000 Swiss francs as prize money.

Green Paper on a Common Strategic Framework for future EU Research and Innovation Funding

The European Commission presented a Green Paper proposing major changes to EU research & innovation funding and is seeking the views of all interested individuals and organisations.

Preparing for FP8

On 9th February 2011, the European Commission presented a Green Paper proposing major changes to EU research & innovation funding to make participation easier, increase scientific and economic impact and provide better value for money. The changes, to be introduced in the next EU budget after 2013, would bring together the current Framework Programme for research, the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.

National ICT Directors Forums

Summary: 

The National ICT Research Directors Forum starts on Monday 12 April at lunch time and finishes after lunch on Tuesday 13 April.

The National ICT Research Directors Forum is an informal framework, through which representatives of national ministries responsible for ICT research policy and funding (typically research and industry ministries) and their Commission counterparts meet twice a year to discuss and develop shared visions and strategies for ICT research in Europe.

Elisabeth Giacobino (head of the QUIE2T advisory board) will represent the Information and Communication Technologies Advisory Group (ICTAG) and inform the participants about the major ICT trends.
