Philippe Grangier has been awarded the 2012 Charles Hard Townes prize.
The Charles Hard Townes award was established in 1980 to honor Charles Hard Townes, a pioneer in the field of masers and lasers, whose contributions led to the development of quantum electronics. It is awarded to a researcher or a group of researchers for outstanding experimental or theoretical work within the field of optics and quantum electronics.

QUIE2T has provided a position document as a response to the EC consultation regarding a "Green Paper on a Common Strategic Framework for future EU Research and Innovation Funding".

Preparing for FP8
On 9th February 2011, the European Commission presented a Green Paper proposing major changes to EU research & innovation funding to make participation easier, increase scientific and economic impact and provide better value for money. The changes, to be introduced in the next EU budget after 2013, would bring together the current Framework Programme for research, the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
