Quantum Enterprise Fellows

The Quantum Technology Enterprise Centre (QTEC) represents a world-first for quantum enterprise training. As part of the University of Bristol’s multi-disciplinary Quantum Engineering Technology Labs (QET Labs), this high profile and unique training centre, builds upon the already successful Quantum Engineering Centre for Doctoral Training (QE-CDT) and is partnered with Cranfield University's Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurship, creating a world-leading Centre to train entrepreneurially-minded, quantum engineers, ready to be a leader of the emerging quantum technology industry.

We are looking to appoint ten promising early career postgraduate researchers and/or PhD students who are nearing the end of their studies to undertake a unique and intensive training programme designed to develop the Quantum Entrepreneurs of the future. Ideally you will have a background or interest in quantum technologies and are passionate about innovation and creating emerging technology start-up businesses. You will learn the necessary skills to create and develop your own business plan from the best and brightest minds in the fields of Quantum Engineering, Systems Thinking and Enterprise and Entrepreneurship.

There are two main programmes:

Quantum Enterprise Fellowships: Programme 1

A full-time, one-year, cohort-based programme with taught courses covering aspects of quantum engineering, systems thinking and design, enterprise and entrepreneurship. This programme is suitable for those who have just completed a PhD or are early career researcher who may already have an idea of a quantum technology they wish to commercialise, or have a related technical background and wish to become a quantum entrepreneur or innovator in an existing company.

Executive Fellowship Programme: Programme 2

A flexible programme for those already embedded in research groups, for instance, in some of the UK Quantum Technology Hubs or for those who already have a number of years in research, industry, or new enterprise creation. We will help you to create a bespoke programme, taking elements from Programme 1 courses as appropriate, and provide mentoring and support to kick-start a quantum technology enterprise.

Based in the Nanoscience and Quantum Information Building, within the School of Physics, these posts are offered on 12 months fixed term contracts during this training period. Please note that the successful candidates must be able to start on the 3rd October 2016.

The closing date for applications is 11:59pm on Tuesday 2nd August 2016 find out how to apply on our website.
