ICFO is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will be joining the QOT Quantum Optics Theory group led by Prof.Dr. Maciej Lewenstein. The group has experience in theoretical physics (quantum physics, quantum information science, statistical physics, ultrafast science, laser physics, mathematical physics, machine learning). The successful candidate will work within the project QuantumCAT, combining research on quantum technologies, quantum simulators and quantum computing with focused studies of quantum correlations in many body systems and certification-validation-verification of quantum simulators and machine learning. Skills in state-of –art numerical simulation of quantum many body systems more than welcome.

The successful candidate will carry out their tasks within the Quantum CAT project (Agrupació Emergent en Tecnologies Quàntiques de Catalunya (QUANTUM) with suggested potential funding of 1.814.495,14€. Operation Code: IU16-011424). This project QuantumCAT is co-financed by the European Union Regional Development Fund within the framework of the ERDF Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020.”

Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in theoretical physics.

The candidate should have a proven track record of publishing in international journals and presenting results at international conferences/ Positively valued will be experience in quantum information theory applied to many body systems and in contemporary numerical approaches (tensor networks, exact diagonalizations, semi-definite programming, Monte Carlo). Experience in machine learning is desired.

ICFO is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates are selected exclusively on merit and potential on the basis of submitted application material. No restrictions related to disabilities, citizenship or gender apply to ICFO positions. ICFO abides by the principles of openness, efficiency, transparency, supportiveness, and international comparability as stated in the European Charter for Researchers and the European Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
