ICFO is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will be joining the Quantum Information Theory group led by Prof. Dr. Antonio Acín. The group has experience in the design of quantum information protocols, with an emphasis on quantum cryptographic applications, the study of quantum correlations and the application of quantum information concepts to other fields, such as the study of many-body systems and quantum thermodynamics.

The successful candidate will carry out their tasks within the Quantum CAT project (Agrupació Emergent en Tecnologies Quàntiques de Catalunya (QUANTUM) with suggested potential funding of 1.814.495,14€. Operation Code: IU16-011424). This project QuantumCAT is co-financed by the European Union Regional Development Fund within the framework of the ERDF Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020.”

Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in quantum information science.

The hired researcher will be working on the study of many-body quantum systems from a quantum information perspective. Possible topics of research are: methods for the classical simulation of many-body systems, study of quantum simulators or detection of relevant quantum properties in a many-body context. Previous experience in any of these topics is not necessary but highly recommended.

ICFO is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates are selected exclusively on merit and potential on the basis of submitted application material. No restrictions related to disabilities, citizenship or gender apply to ICFO positions.
