FOMO2018 Summer School of the Conference Frontiers of MatterWave Optics

2018-09-10 - 2018-09-14
Registration deadline:
2018-07-01 (All day)
Crete, Greece

Scope of the Summer School

The summer school aims at providing a strong background in matter-wave physics to those starting in the field, be it PhD students or early stage post-docs. The school will consist of a series of in-depth lectures by leading experimentalists and theorists in the field. The summer school is to some extent a preparation to the conference, which follows the week after.

The summer school will take place in the village of Archanes, close to Heraklion on Crete (Greece).

Scope of the Conference

The phenomenon of deBroglie waves evolved from textbook experiments on the foundations of quantum mechanics to a new kind of optics based on matter waves. Today, this field extends from experiments about the wave-particle dualism and decoherence, over coherent optics, non-linear optics, quantum atom optics and optics in periodic media to precision measurements. Tailoring waves of all kind of matter and generation of complex matter-waves promises to perpetuate the fascination of this field over the next decade. This conference aims to bring together high-ranking scientist sharing this fascination and working at the frontiers of matter wave optics. Space will also be allotted to hot and new topics in the field of matter wave optics.
