QUIE2T project extended

Summary: 

The QUIE2T contract has been amended to extend the project by 6 months, and to include the University of Florence as a new partner.

Just about one week before the initial end of the project, we have received the confirmation that the QUIE2T project is extended by 6 months, i.e. the project will run until 31 July 2013. In addition, the University of Florence, Italy has been added as a new partner. Florence will be part of WP4 and in charge of the QIPC 2013 conference organization.

New Project Officer

Summary: 

QUIE2T has been assigned a new Project Officer by the European Commission.

With immediate effect, a new project officer has been assigned to the project QUIE2T. The new project officer is Aymard DE TOUZALIN, however Dr. Matteo Mascagni is in charge of the day to day management of the QUIE2T project on his behalf. He is our contact point for any matters related to the QUIE2T project.

QUIE2T sponsors public talk at 'Quo Vadis, Quantum Hybridium?'

Summary: 

Within its Quantum Envoy program, the CA QUIE2T has sponsored a public talk at the workshop 'Quo Vadis, Quantum Hybridium?'

The talk was delivered by Prof. J. Taylor (UMD/NIST) on the topic: Exploring new frontiers of quantum science with hybrid systems.

Petition to protect the EU research budget

Summary: 

The Initiative for Science in Europe (ISE) has launched a petition to support an open letter that has been signed by 42 Nobel Laureates and 5 Fields Medallists.

The discussions at and around the next summit of the European Union heads of states and governments, which is scheduled for 22 and 23 November, will be decisive in determining the EU research budget for the next seven years. Several Member States are demanding severe cuts on the total EU budget and research will have to compete with other policy priorities.
