We are organizing the Workshop “Entanglement in Strongly Correlated Systems” that will take place at the Centro de Ciencias de Benasque Pedro Pascual (http://benasque.org/) from February 14 to February 27, 2016 (http://www.benasque.org/2016scs/). Benasque is a beautiful spanish village located in the heart of the Pyrenees close to Aneto Peak, the highest mountain in the Pyrenees (3,404 meters -- 11,168 ft). The meeting will be the continuation of the one that took place in Summer 2014 (see http://benasque.org/2014numerical/).

Benasque Workshop on "Quantum Science: Implementations"

Date:
2016-07-10 - 2016-07-29
Registration deadline:
2016-05-20 (All day)
Place:
Benasque, Spain

This workshop is intended to discuss recent progress and challenges in the physical implementation of quantum science (e.g. quantum information and computation, simulation, cryptography, metrology, foundations, etc.). Therefore, the workshop aims at a balanced mixture between theorists and experimentalists from a variety of fields: optical lattices, trapped ions, atomic ensembles, cavity QED, NV-centers, quantum dots, quantum circuits, quantum nanomechanical resonators, (nano)photonics, etc.

Dear colleagues,

the Optical Frequencies group of the SYRTE laboratory is organizing a workshop at the Paris Observatory in September (Sept 8-Sept 10), within the framework of the Marie Curie ITN FACT (Future Atomic Clock Technology). The speakers will address very practical issues:

* Lab techniques (noise measurement, laser locking, software to assist an atomic physics experiment ...)
* Applications of atomic sensors (from Industry to Fundamental physics)

QuEBS: Quantum Effects in Biological Systems

Date:
2015-06-29 - 2015-07-02
Registration deadline:
2015-05-31 (All day)
Place:
Florence, Italy

The identification and study of quantum mechanical phenomena in biological systems is an emerging area of interdisciplinary research spanning physics, chemistry, biology, material science, and quantum information science. In this annual workshop, we intend to explore the interplay between quantum coherence and environmental effects in both driven and undriven biomolecular systems. In particular, the role of quantum dynamical coherence and decoherence in excitonic energy transfer within chromophoric systems, such as photosynthetic complexes, will be addressed.
