By demonstrating that an artificial atom embedded in a transmission line can route a single photon from an input port to one of two output ports, physicists have built the first router working at the single-photon level. The single-photon router could one day serve as a quantum node in a quantum information network, in which it could provide basic processing and routing of data.
The UPV/EHU PI, Enrique Solano, has written a popularizing article in a Spanish newspaper about Quantum Teleportation.
The UPV/EHU PI, Enrique Solano, has been interviewed in Spanish newspapers.
In quantum control there is an inherent tension between high fidelity requirements and the need for speed to avoid decoherence. A direct comparison of quantum control protocols at these two extremes indicates where the sweet spot may lie.
QUIE2T coordinator Vladimir Buzek has been selected to share his experiences about running a CA at the FET Proactive Information Day.
The Information Day - FP7-Call-9 took place on 18 Jan 2012 in Brussels and was attended by some ~250 people. The slides of the presentation are available for download from the Info Day Agenda.
After the successful Industry Sessions held at the previous QIPC meetings in Barcelona’07 and Rome’09, the event at QIPC'11 again offered a platform for exchanges between academic researchers and industry leaders.
There were presentations by Dr. Bruno Michel, from IBM Research, Zürich, who talked about 'Computing after scaling: New computation paradigms', and Dr. Grégoire Ribordy, CEO of ID Quantique, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. The title of his presentation was accordingly 'Commercializing QITechnology for 10 years'.
