Ceci n'est pas le chat de Schrodinger, ceci et le chat de Piron

Tue, 2012-05-15 11:41
Constantin Piron, famous for many things including the Jauch-Piron NoGo-theorem and his reconstruction theorem, and of course his beautiful book Foundations of Quantum Physics, has died at the age of 80 on May 9, 2012. While usually associated with quantum logic, he strongly emphasized an operational underpinning of axiomatic concepts, and boldly went against any dogma, including quantum logic.

Q+ hangout with Jonathan Oppenheim

Mon, 2012-04-09 16:44

We'd like to announce the next Q+ hangout:

Date: 24th April 2012

Time: 14:00 British Summer Time

Title: Fundamental limitations for quantum and nano thermodynamics

Speaker: Jonathan Oppenheim (University College London)

Abstract:
The relationship between thermodynamics and statistical physics is valid in the thermodynamic limit -- when the number of particles involved becomes very large. Here we study thermodynamics in the opposite regime -- at both the nano scale, and when quantum effects become important.

New Construction for Quantum Foundation to identify Classical and Quantum Behaviours

Sat, 2012-03-10 02:40

Two chapters of Advanced Topics in Measurements published by InTech March 2012 using variant construction to show positive evidences to resolve wave-particle duality and Bohr-Einstein debates on the foundation of the Quantum Mechanics.

In relation to classical Young double slits experiments, EPR model, Bell Inequalities, Feynman Criteria and Bohr-Einstein debates, a set of predictions and conjectures are suggested.

In the Chapter 18: From Local Interactive Measurements to Global Matrix Representations on Variant Construction – A Particle Model of Quantum Interactions for Double Path Ex

Variant Simulation System using Quaternion Structures

Mon, 2012-02-20 02:48

Quantum measures play a key role in quantum interactions. In this paper, a variant simulation system – a variant double path model – is proposed that uses multiple variable logic functions and variant principle schemes applied to input/output relationships as a variant quaternion. Under this mechanism, a two-state system of quantum interactions can be simulated by the variant double path model. Visual distributions can be expressed by their probability, synchronous/asynchronous, and symmetry/anti-symmetry statistical properties.

Call for applications for admission to PhD programmes - Faculty of Sciences-Scuola Normale Superiore (Italy)

Thu, 2012-02-16 13:23

The Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) in Pisa (Italy) is a public institute for higher education with unique features: the selection of students – through specific public competitions – is based on merit only, classes are organized like seminars, teaching and research are closely linked, college life is an integrated part of the experience. Moreover, according to the best models of higher instruction in Europe, great space is devoted to international exchanges. The greatest resource of the Normale is the quality of its students.
